Keep Expert Advisors in a controlled environment
An EA VPS is planned around the Expert Advisors and trading terminals that run your automation. The objective is an environment that can be administered and monitored independently of a personal workstation. The VPS does not validate a strategy or guarantee trading performance.
Start with the EA version, target terminal, indicators and any external dependencies. Some software also has activation or licensing conditions that must be checked with its supplier before moving to another machine.
Monitor the application as well as the server
A reachable server is not proof that a terminal is connected or an EA is active. Monitoring should distinguish the operating system, terminal process, broker connection and strategy state. Agree which conditions require an alert and who responds to it.
Test resource use during busy sessions and include logs in storage planning. A frequently writing EA or a large collection of charts can behave differently from a simple strategy with the same terminal count. Use the MT4 or MT5 hosting guide for platform-specific planning.
Test restarts and avoid duplicate execution
Restart procedures should cover the Windows session, terminal startup, login and EA state. Each recovery step needs a functional check. Server backups and the state of open trading positions are different concerns; restoring files does not rewind activity at the broker.
For migration, stop or disable the original automation at an agreed point before enabling the replacement. Keep a rollback plan that states which instance is allowed to trade. More complex multi-process systems may require separate algorithmic trading infrastructure.
What to include in your request
- EA names and versions, terminal platform and software dependencies.
- Number of accounts and terminal instances that operate concurrently.
- Alerting, startup and recovery behaviour required for each strategy.
- Log retention, backup requirements and the migration control process.
Questions about EA VPS Hosting for MetaTrader Expert Advisors
Does hosting include the Expert Advisor itself?
Hosting provides the agreed computing environment. EAs, indicators, subscriptions and other third-party software are separate unless explicitly included in the proposal.
Can a server backup restore a trading account to an earlier state?
No. A server backup restores the files or system data included in that backup. Trading activity and positions are maintained by the broker and cannot be reversed by restoring a VPS.
What should be checked after a restart?
Verify terminal connectivity, account selection, chart and EA configuration, required permissions and monitoring. Confirm that only the intended instance is submitting trading actions.
